The Cockroach Janata Party has begun a protest toward parliament, “Chalo Sansad.” The protest started around 9:00 AM on Monday morning. The activist Sonam Wangchuk said he withdrew his hunger strike when the government honoured his three stipulations. Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Dr Gitangli Angmo, said our main motive is to hold protest peacefully.
On Monday, the CJP starts a protest at Jantar Mantar, Chalo Sansad is protesting; the high security of the police is mobilised there. Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad, TMC MP Mahua Moitra, and actors Prakash Raj and Shabana Azmi also participated.
As per the police, 8000 people gathered for the march. Protesters began the protest towards parliament; some people hurled stones. Police responded with a lathi charge and used mild force to disperse the crowd; the clash took place near the Kerala House.
The previous day, police were sent to the protest area, and on Monday morning, riot control vehicles also mustered at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police has not given permission to protest in Parliament.
Protest march led by CJP on the first day of the monsoon session in Parliament. A few areas of New Delhi are under a prohibitory order, and the metro stations at Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Janpath are closed. For security reasons, DMRC closed the entry and exit gates at approx 5 A.M.
“Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, said we will focus on this march; the three points are very important today. First, we will focus on conducting a march peacefully; let us stay focused on the issue. The issue was education, a vital need for this country, and we remain vigilant.”
Sonam Wangchuk is ready to end his hunger strike, but he put forth three conditions for the government.
The first condition is that the government takes accountability for the alleged “failures” in the education system—especially the recent NEET question paper leaks.
The second condition is that political leaders assure him that the paper leak issue would be raised in Parliament.
The third condition is that if my health and other factors do not permit this, then the honorable MPs and leaders of different parties must visit this hospital and give the assurance.
He wrote in the letter, “His freedom of movement, speech, and all communication are restricted during illegal detention.” He signed the letter as well.
