Man Beaten to Death in Delhi's Mayur Vihar

A forty-year-old man was beaten to death in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase 3. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the New Ashok Nagar police station and was recorded in the nearby CCTV. The police immediately came to the scene after receiving the information. 

The victim was seen walking around with two other men, who then beat him with sticks and wooden batons. Nandlal Yadav, a security guard who saw the occurrence around 4 AM, tried to intervene and help the victim but was outnumbered by the assaulters. He then called the PCR and informed the police about the incident. He added that the men were threatening to kill him as well. 

By the time police arrived, the victim had already passed away due to severe injuries. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Delhi) is trying to trace down the attackers and identify them with the help of the CCTV camera footage, whereas the identity of the victim has not been established so far. The police said that the attack took place near a Durga temple, opposite a local MLA’s office.

According to DCP (East Delhi) Rajeev Kumar, “Injury marks have been found on the body. The police team rushed to the spot and started the investigation. The CCTV footage of the nearby cameras is being scanned. Besides identification of the deceased, all necessary efforts are being made to trace the accused involved in the incident.”

Kondli Kuldeep Kumar, an MLA of Aam Aadmi Party showed concerns over the increasing crime rate and situation of law and order in the capital and raised questions over it. “Incidents of crime are increasing in the capital city of Delhi, and the situation is particularly alarming in Kondli assembly constituency,” said the MLA. “There have been more than half a dozen murders in the area, and the police have failed to curb the crime.”

Police are working to establish the identity of the deceased man and the two alleged attackers. Further details are yet to be confirmed as the investigation is underway.
