Rain-soaked Abhijeet Dipke, who was standing with the other party leader in the front of the line of protesters, raised a slogan. The CJP protester stated to India Today: “The protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. The meeting of next March is still underway. The party will soon issue an official statement outlining the next course of action.”
On Monday night at the Jantar Mantar site and in a few parts of central Delhi, the internet was shut down. Authorities suspended internet services as a precaution to maintain law and order during the large-scale “Chalo Sansad” protests. Police fired tear gas shells and carried out a lathi charge after protesters allegedly pelted stones at security personnel. While videos showing injured protesters surfaced on social media, Delhi Police said more than 118 of its personnel were also hurt in the clashes. In the aftermath of the protest, the atmosphere at Jantar Mantar is fully energetic. Around a thousand protesters and a hundred police officers are deployed there. When India Today asked the police officer if they were prepared for another attempt to march on the parliament, the sub-inspector-ranked officer stated, “The bandobast will remain the same. We will re-erect the barriers.”
