Newlywed Woman Dies as Dowry Demand Was 10 Lakh Rupees and a Car

A 28-year-old newlywed woman died mysteriously in Delhi’s Lode Colony on Saturday. Her family claimed that after a love marriage, her in-laws persistently harassed her and demanded a dowry. 

Officials said a woman had been found dead under suspicious circumstances outside the government NDMC residential flats of Palika Kunjon on Saturday. She was found critically injured and taken immediately to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The doctor declared her dead.

The investigator is still determining how she reached the NDMC complex and what caused her death. As per the investigator, the woman had fallen from the 3rd floor of the complex.

Her family claimed she was either murdered by her in-laws or compelled to take this step due to torture and harassment from her in-laws and her husband. She got married on 26 April 2026 , 30-year-old man, a sales executive in Chattarpur; the in-laws live in Pushp Vihar, and her family lives in Sangam Vihar.

On Saturday, a woman had left her mother at home for the office after 6 PM. She called her mother and informed her she had gone to her in-laws’ house, but she was found dead outside the NDMC building in Palika Kunj. Police could not identify how she could have reached there. Police examined the CCTV camera footage of Palika Kunj and the area around the location. 

Her uncle said, prior to her death, her husband fought with her and did not want to financially support her mother. After her father’s death, she was the only one who earned bread for the family. Her husband forced her to hand over her entire income to him and not to send 5000 rupees to her mother.

Her uncle’s claims: After a love marriage, her in-laws and husband demanded 10 lakh rupees and one car. When she denied it, they repeated the physical and mental abuse.
