A woman and her two daughters who were just 8 and 12 years old died in a fire that broke out on the third floor of a building in South Delhi, Lodhi garden on Tuesday morning.
Police said that when it was happening at that time the other family members, her husband Mohit Sharma, who is a lawyer in the Delhi High Court and his mother were present on the second floor not knowing what was happening above them. Police also identified that the deceased were Akansha Sharma, Aradhya, and Maheen ages 40, 12, and 8 respectively.
Mittal said “ The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. No signs of foul notice at this stage, but all the angles are probed.” The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) also got a call at around 10.21 am. Three fire engines raced to the scene and worked to bring the flames under control — the fire was finally extinguished by 11:10 am.
Joshiy, a neighbour, said his wife noticed smoke from the third floor of the building around 10am., but the police and firefighters arrived there after an hour. By the time he arrived at the buildings he had seen other neighbours had already started to rescue.
Rahul Nawariya another neighbour said that when he was having his breakfast his mother started screaming and then he saw that smoke was coming out from the third floor of the building. Five to seven people ran up to the 2nd floor as 3rd floor gate was not opening. Rahul said, mohit and his mother had no idea we told them and on the third floor that door was locked, Rahul and two others tried to open the wooden door of the balcony that is attached to the room.
While forcing the door to open one resident’s hair also caught fire and he felt something was blocking the door and it was one daughter lying around the door motionless but was not able to help due to fire.Also a relative who had visited there but not at home when all this happened said that we met in December and can not believe that those little girls died, he spent very little time with them.
