An on-duty Delhi police head constable was hit by the speeding car on Wednesday evening around 6PM at the Singhu border in outer North Delhi.
Head constable under Alipur Police Station, Amit, was installing a speed-monitoring machine near a traffic booth. The car driver smashed into Amit; he departed the scene without stopping. According to the delhi police as the “press trust of india”
Amit’s colleagues were urgently taken to the Narela’s Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital (SRHC), where doctors had declared a death before reaching the hospital.The head constable, Amit, was a resident of Sonipat in neighboring Haryana.
As per the official statement issued by the Delhi police, it was with deep regret that head constable of Delhi Police, Amit, who was posted in the traffic unit at the Singhu border, has passed away in a fatal hit-and-run crash. He leaves behind his wife and his two children.
The investigators of this case gather information from the CCTV footage and collect technical forensic evidence to solve the case as early as they can.
The case has been filed under the BNS section (281) dealing with a case of reckless driving in a car or negligent driving on a public road and endangering a human life and causing injury. It replaces section 279 of IPC, the offense of being bailable, and applies to all vehicles. The person must carry out a punishment for the six months and a fine of up to 1,000 rupees.
The police made a team to identify an alleged offender. The alleged offender is now in custody of police; he was detained by the police within one hour, and his car, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, was recovered by the police.
As per the BNS Section (106) (1), it says a death caused by rash and negligent acts without intention of killing is covered by five years of punishment and a fine; for medical negligence, it must be two years of punishment with a fine. In the case of a hit-and-run case, if a driver flees without reporting, imprisonment is around ten years.
